China’s Blue Whale rotorcraft to be equipped with 5000KW turboshaft engine

General engineer of Avic Helicopter Company Wu Ximing said in a recent interview that, heavy helicopter jointly developed by China and Russia will use Ukrainian D136 engine, just like Mi-26 military transport helicopter, and all the production will be performed in China.

Besides, a 5000KW turboshaft engine of which the model was exhibited in 2013 Helicopter Expo might be used for heavy helicopters, and the new generation rotorcraft.

Different from CV-22 Osprey, Blue Whale will have four rotors, and its model has been shown before, which will have a takeoff weight of 40 tons, and internal load of 20 tons.
