China’s PL-15 air-to-air missile could threaten F-35 fighter

China’s PL-15 air-to-air missile

US media website Public Science recently reported that China has just tested its BVRAAM (Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile) – PL-15, which destroyed a UAV.

PL-15 air-to-air missile will replace China’s radar-guided PL-12 missile, of which the firing range is nearly 100km, but PL-15 owns bigger scope of radar detection, anti-interference data chain and a dual pulse solid rocket motor.

PL-15 air-to-air missile’s firing range is 150 to 200km, longer than all the air-to-air missiles owned by US air force. It will threaten US fighters like F-35, as well as bombers and air tankers.

PL-15 air-to-air missile will be equipped to J-20 and J-31 stealth fighters, and older J-10, J-11, J-15 and J-16.
