New J-31: faster than F-35 and stealthier than J-20

Model of new type J-31 fighter

The world has entered the era of fourth-generation fighter jets (fifth gen for Russian and Chinese standards), but only four countries – China, the United States, Russia and Japan can produce such jets. Among them, China, the United States and Russia have developed their own fourth-generation fighters, and Japanese has got production lines of F-35 fighters from the United States.

According to experts, the performance of China’s J-31 fighter jet in the future can be comparable to that of the typical fourth-generation carrier-based fighter F-35C from the United States, and J-31 fighter’s speed of super-fast 1.8 Mach is even more advantageous.

Expert: Beyond F35 in many ways

Well-known Chinese military expert Yin Zhuo pointed out earlier that, first of all, China’s new type J-31’s aerodynamic shape is better than US-owned stealth fighter F-35.

F-35 fighter had to be designed to be thick and strong enough to install a huge turbofan engine, while J-31 was optimized for supersonic area ratio.

Secondly, stealth performance of J-31 is similar to that of F-22 and F-35 fighters and may even be better than stealth performance of J-20.

Third, the large wing and DSI inlet design enhances J-31’s high and low speed flight performance.

Fourth, the full-motion tail of J-31 shows that its control system is fully digital.

Fifth, J-31 fighter jet’s large nose can accommodate large radars.

Sixth, the aircraft is equipped with two engines, which is superior to F-35 in terms of carrier aircraft.

Seventh, the aircraft wheel and landing gear are strong enough to withstand huge impact forces. So, it can be converted into carrier-based aircraft. “China’s Navy can use it completely.”

According to online information, the latest version of J-31 stealth fighter has a high level of load capacity and stealth performance, and J-31 uses two engines, therefore its speed can reach 1.8 Mach, faster than 1.6 Mach of F-35 stealth fighter.

In contrast, the opponent F-35 fighter is now “scandal-ridden.” According to reports, F-35 has had two single crashes, and now there are 13 new problems in it.

The most serious is that when F-35B and F-35C fighters fly at a supersonic speed, their stealth coating of the fuselage will bubble up until it falls off. At that time, their stealth performance will be greatly reduced, and even become completely invalid.
