J-20’s new air intake seems adjustable

China air force recently unveiled some close pictures of J-20’s taken from multiple angles, and some inside and outside details of the fuselage were displayed for the first time.

According to the pictures, even if the camera is pulled close to the plane, no rivets could be found on J-20’s fuselage, and only a row of neat fixing screws were seen at some inspection wares.

Besides, there are various tight air inlets on the outside of J-20’s air intake, which seems to be made of supramolecular materials, beneficial to the stealth performance of the aircraft.

Moreover, an adjustable plate seems to appear at the front end of the intake. This special function might automatically adjust the air inlet size so that intake requirements of the engine at different speeds could be met.
