It’s reported that at a recent international defense exhibition, 054AE frigate has got another special name – White Shark-4000 (Baisha-4000). And at the exhibition, models of Type 054A vary in appearance from different military trade units.
According to military analyst Bei Guo, Type 054AE frigate’s new name White Shark 4000 represents a marketing path similar to that of European manufacturers.
The number 4000 in the names means a 4000-ton frigate, and there will be numbers below it: 3000, 2000 and 1000 represent different levels of products, which forms a complete foreign trade product pedigree.
Similarly, there are domestic submarines in China. After China’s “Yuan” class submarines are exported under the name of S26T “kylin” (Qilin) class, 1100, 600, and 200-ton class submarines have also been added to the list for export, which is enough to satisfy various demands.
In other fields of military arms, one set – even several sets of equipment pedigrees are developed to meet the needs of various customers.
