Chinese military urged to shoot down US U-2 reconnaissance aircraft

With the development of tensions between China and the United States, the Chinese internet is flooded with all kinds of belligerent speeches, and the Chinese military cannot be unconcerned about such comments. Here is the latest example:

The Ministry of National Defense of China issued an announcement on August 25, saying that:

Today, the U.S. U-2 high-altitude reconnaissance aircraft arbitrarily broke into the no-fly zone for live ammunition exercises in the northern theater of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, seriously disrupting China’s normal exercises and training activities, seriously violating the China-U.S. maritime and air safety code of conduct and related international practices, which could easily lead to misunderstandings and misjudgments or even cause maritime and air accidents, and is a naked provocative action. China firmly opposes this and has lodged solemn representations with the United States. China requires the U.S. to immediately stop such provocative actions and take concrete actions to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Under a report on this official announcement, a top comment with thousands of like says:

America is blatantly provoking our country. Since we have issued a notice on the exercise in advance and they still have to break in, what if we shoot it down?!

Another top comment says:

Never issue such announcements anymore in the future, just think what your predecessors did first.

Another comment:

Why has the United States never dared to engage in such provocations against Russia? Although Russia doesn’t have advanced conventional weapons, its nuclear weapons are very powerful. Therefore, Hu Xijin is right that China should vigorously develop nuclear weapons.

Another:

What’s the use of just talking? Shoot down it first like Russia would do…We could say it’s a mistake – it’s above the exercise area anyway.
