H-20 renderings combine advantages of B-2 and Tu-160 bombers

China’s “Modern Weaponry” published recently a rendering of a flying wing bomber mentioned as “the God of Combat in Welkin” on the cover of its June 2021 issue. Previously, it also published renderings with the title “Full state of H-20 – the God of Combat in Welkin” on an inside page of its April issue.

The monthly magazine “Modern Weaponry” has a Chinese military background. It is headed by China North Industries Group Corporation and sponsored by China National Weapons Industry Information Research Institute. It had taken the lead in publishing photos of the J-20 before it made its first flight. The renderings released by the magazine are widely regarded as the upcoming H-20 stealth strategic bomber.

From the pictures, the H-20 bomber of China will adopt a design of full-motion vertical tails and variable-sweep wings. It is believed to have not only the high stealth performance of America’s B-2 Spirit bomber, but also the super maneuverability of Russia’s Tu-160 blackjack supersonic bomber. Its maximum flight speed will be more than Mach 2, which is higher than the 0.95 Mach of the B-2 bomber and is equivalent to the 2.05 Mach of the Tu-160 bomber.

In addition, a foreign satellite has taken photos of the suspected H-20 verification aircraft in 2017, which are basically the same as the renderings released by the Chinese magazine.
