The situation in the South China Sea has recently heated up, and some western countries have successively sent warships and aircraft carriers to pass through the South China Sea. At the same time, the actions of Chinese nuclear submarines were captured by US satellites.

The US Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) website published satellite photos of China’s strategic nuclear submarine on August 4, according to Chinese media.

The CSIS website stated that commercial satellite images on July 8, 2021 captured a Chinese Type 094 strategic nuclear submarine returning to the military base in Yulin Port, Hainan. Although partially obscured by clouds, there was at least another Type 094 submarine at the scene.

The clear image on July 15 shows that two Type 094 and two Type 093 nuclear submarines were docked on four docks, which were protected by a nearby surface-to-air missile base.

CSIS pointed out that Type 094 is the only ship in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy dedicated to launching nuclear weapons. According to the US Department of Defense, the submarine represents China’s “first credible sea-based nuclear deterrent.”

In May of this year, an insider stated that China’s Type 094A nuclear submarine could strike the entire territory of the United States.
