China and India held the 13th round of military chief-level talks on the Chinese side of the Mordo/Chushule meeting point on Oct. 10. The Chinese side issued a statement on Oct. 11 noting that the Indian side was insisting on unreasonable and unrealistic demands, adding to the difficulties of the talks.
On the eve of the talks, tensions between China and India resurfaced when about 200 PLA soldiers from the Chinese border guard force were stopped by the Indian side during a routine patrol to the Chinese side of the border in Dongzhang on Sept. 28, claiming that Chinese soldiers had “crossed the line and were detained.”
According to the latest Indian media reports, the Indian private company Apasteron has developed a series of “non-lethal” electric shock weapons at the request of Indian security forces to temporarily disable the other side in violent clashes. According to the webcam, the electric shock weapons include electric shock tridents, electric shock gloves and so on.
It is no coincidence that the People’s Liberation Army has also recently released footage of soldiers holding long hilt broadswords and carrying rocket-propelled grenades. Previously, Chinese officials had also released images of soldiers at the border training in close-quarters combat.
In June 2020, the most serious conflict between China and India in 45 years broke out in the Galwan Valley. The two armies engaged in close-range physical combat, resulting in four deaths and one injury on the Chinese side, and at least 20 deaths on the Indian side.
