Chinese President Xi Jinping recently visited the headquarters of the Eastern Theater Command, where he emphasized the importance of anchoring the centenary goal of building a strong military. Representing the Party Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, Xi conveyed sincere greetings to all officers and soldiers in the Eastern Theater Command. The visit aimed to implement the Party’s directives from the 20th Party Congress and the new era’s military strategies, while striving to create a new phase in the construction and preparedness of the theater command.

During the visit, Xi Jinping commended the Eastern Theater Command for its significant contributions in safeguarding national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and maritime rights since its establishment. He highlighted the current global dynamics of uncertainty and increased security challenges faced by China. He stressed the importance of remaining focused on the mission and tasks at hand, adopting a problem-oriented approach, enhancing awareness of potential risks, and fully fulfilling the theater command’s primary combat responsibilities. Additionally, he emphasized the need to strengthen war planning, establish a robust joint command system, prioritize realistic military training, and expedite the enhancement of combat capabilities.

Furthermore, Xi Jinping emphasized the political dimension of military matters, encouraging a proactive and skilled approach to safeguarding national sovereignty, security, and development interests. He underscored the comprehensive strengthening of the Communist Party’s foundations, including the education of socialist ideology in the new era and the promotion of the “Strengthening the Military through Learning and Contributing to the Cause of the Military” campaign. He urged a persistent focus on maintaining integrity, discipline, and anti-corruption efforts, as well as the effective implementation of grassroots initiatives to enhance the leadership’s readiness and combat capabilities.

The visit by President Xi Jinping to the Eastern Theater Command signifies China’s commitment to bolstering its military strength and preparedness in response to evolving global circumstances.
