On September 9, the US warship “USS Ralph Johnson DDG 114” and the Canadian ship “Ottawa” navigated through the Taiwan Strait, which drew public attention. The US Navy confirmed on the same day that the USS Ralph Johnson DDG 114 and a Canadian ship crossed the Taiwan Strait.

Spokesperson for the Eastern Theater, Colonel Shi Yi of the Army, stated that the People’s Liberation Army of the Eastern Theater had organized naval and air forces to monitor the entire journey, handling the situation in accordance with laws and regulations. He emphasized that the theater’s troops are always on high alert, staunchly defending national sovereignty and regional peace and stability.

Earlier, on June 3, another US warship and Canadian ship had passed through the Taiwan Strait. According to Canada’s Global News on June 3, on that day, a Chinese military ship nearly collided with the US destroyer “USS Chung-Hoon”.

The captain of the Canadian escort ship, Paul Mountford, reported that the Chinese military ship had warned the US side that if “USS Chung-Hoon” did not change its course, a collision would be imminent. The US also attempted to request the Chinese military ship to change its course, but ultimately had to choose to slow down and alter its direction. At that time, the distance between the two military ships was less than 150 yards.

Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson for the Eastern Theater, had then responded by emphasizing that the People’s Liberation Army of the Eastern Theater had organized naval and air forces to monitor the entire journey, handling the situation in accordance with laws and regulations.
