The whereabouts of the legendary mysterious bomber, the H-20, have been closely watched. Deputy Commander of the Chinese Air Force, Wang Wei, revealed in an interview with the Hong Kong Commercial Daily on March 11th that the H-20 will soon be officially announced to the public. “It’s coming soon, just wait!” As for how long it will take for it to enter service or be mass-produced after test flights, he replied, “It will be very soon, right on track!”
Since the news of its development emerged in 2016, the H-20 has yet to be unveiled, leading to speculation that China has encountered technological bottlenecks. Wang Wei categorically denied this, stating, “There are no bottlenecks, everything can be solved. Our researchers are very capable now.”
The introduction of the H-20 will significantly enhance the strength of the Chinese Air Force. Wang Wei admitted, “That’s for sure. Each generation of equipment brings a generation of combat power.” He openly stated, “It’s something to be proud of and excited about. Its significance is immense. It’s a generational shift, a new generation of aircraft.”
Described as a “storm” stealth bomber, the H-20 is China’s first independently developed large-scale bomber and the world’s third stealth strategic bomber. Analysts believe that once the H-20 successfully completes its test flights, China may be able to overtake others on the bend, putting pressure on the United States.
With the assistance of the H-20, will China’s strength be further narrowed compared to the United States? Wang Wei responded directly, “We don’t compare ourselves to the United States; we only defend our own security!” As for whether there will be an “overtaking on the bend,” he chuckled, “Let everyone see when the time comes!”
