China CCTV’s “Defense Military” channel reported on the morning of 25th that the launching ceremony of the country’s first amphibious assault ship was to be held in Shanghai on the same day.
It is the first type of amphibious assault ship developed independently by China, with strong ability of amphibious operations and diversified tasks. And the ship will carry out equipment commissioning, mooring and navigation tests as planned.
The construction progress of Type 075 large-scale amphibious assault ship has been amazing. Paint and chimney installations were completed in mid-August, followed by installation of several satellite communication systems on the mast and ship island, with the most visible double main radars. Not long after that, high-definition pictures showed that the ship had been equipped with a variety of weapons or battlefield sensing systems, with the completion of the ash painting work. “The entire warship has changed from sections covered with rust to a finished product that can be launched in just a few weeks,” exclaimed military enthusiasts.
An anonymous Chinese military expert told “Global Times” that Type 075 amphibious assault ship will be an indispensable part of China’s modern naval warfare, especially in landing and reef operations, thanks to its unique design, special loading and powerful mobile combat capability. However, due to its complicated design, demanding shipbuilding process and high cost, its building is second only to the difficulty of building an aircraft carrier. At present, there are only a few countries in the world that can build amphibious assault ships, such as the United States. France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Japan and South Korea, and so far, only China and the United States can build a 075-type amphibious assault ship, which fully reflects the strength of China’s ship design and shipbuilding capabilities, as well as China’s current strong national strength.”
For the significance of the launch of the 075 amphibious assault ship, the military expert said the launch of Type 075 amphibious assault ship marks the beginning of a new era in the development of Chinese naval surface ships, and it indicates that the Chinese navy surface ship series will add new strength.
