According to analysis, DF-100 supersonic cruise missile, which made its debut at the National Day parade of China, uses a two-stage integrated rocket ramjet engine.

The first-stage solid rocket booster installed in the combustion chamber of the main engine accelerates the missile to approximately Mach 3, and then the new-type solid rocket ramjet starts, further accelerating the missile to the maximum speed and maintain this speed during the cruise.

DF-100 can even achieve high-speed cruising in subsonic combustion mode with a maximum speed of around Mach 4-5. Due to the integrated design technology of DF-100, the highest possible aerodynamic and propulsion performance, stability and control characteristics of the aircraft can be obtained through the interaction between the aircraft and a new type of propeller. After many technical optimizations, the missile can achieve super-high supersonic speed without using a transcendental overpressure engine.

It is reported that DF-100 uses the multi-mode composite guidance technology of “satellite data link + inertia + BeiDou navigation satellite system + infrared imaging guidance”, which not only improves the hit accuracy, shortens the mission planning time and increases the target selection ability.

At the same time, after equipped with the full mission planning system, before the combat, through the integrated missile launching point, target and various constraints, design a satisfactory and achievable route for the cruise missile to accurately target the target. Its supersonic speed advantage, DF-100 could carry out large-scale volley.

And together with DF-17 hypersonic missile, ground and surface targets in over 1500 thousands of miles would be virtually devastated in about 10 minutes, and they are almost impossible to intercept. This is likely to change the shape of future wars.
