According to the official WeChat account of the People’s Navy, the Xingkong camouflage (starry) combat uniform designed for officers and soldiers of the island and reef troops in the hot zone has recently begun to be tried on in the Chinese Navy’s Nansha troops.

According to public reports, Xingkong camouflage that made its debut in the National Day parade in 2019 will be distributed this year to our support base in Djibouti and a combined brigade of the Tibet Military Region.

Xingkong camouflage (starry camo) is a change from the previous type 07 camouflage which was divided into camouflage colors according to military branches, and troops are issued appropriate camouflage colors according to the combat terrain.

At a regular press conference of the Ministry of National Defense in October last year, the spokesperson of the Ministry of National Defense, Colonel Wu Qian, confirmed that the Chinese army will put on new star camouflage uniforms that appeared in the National Day parade.

In August, the new starry sky camouflage appeared in the Tibetan Plateau military exercises. In the middle section of the Himalayas at an altitude of 4600 meters, officers and soldiers of a synthetic brigade of the Tibet Military Region wore new camouflage uniforms that had just been distributed to conduct live-fire drills.

The starry sky camouflage combat uniforms of the Nansha Army feature moisture absorption and quick-drying, wear resistance, tear resistance, comfortable and breathable, etc., which can meet the demands of various combats and training in the harsh natural environment of high temperature, high humidity, high salt, and high radiation.

In the past, Chinese reef guards wore blue marine camouflage most often, and many people complained that there is almost no camouflage effect. Such blue camouflage was designed for soldiers on very small islands and reefs in the South China Sea, with the ocean as the background.

But as those reefs and stilt houses have become history, and the huge islands with dense coconut trees and numerous camps have been created, the starry digital camouflage instead, which is more suitable for jungle warfare and urban warfare, has become the island guard camouflage of the new era.
