According to the news of the WeChat account “China’s Space” on March 14, a loud roar came from Yungang Beijing at around 15:00 on March 10, which was the first test run of China’s large-thrust hydrogen-oxygen engine this year. After 520 seconds of a start-up operation, the engine shut down normally and the test run was proven successful.
This is the second successful long-range test run of the engine, further verifying the reliability of the high thrust hydrogen-oxygen engine.
The high thrust hydrogen-oxygen engine is used in the core stage of the Long March 5 series of launch vehicles and is the most advanced cryogenic liquid rocket engine with the most advanced performance that China has put into application.
According to the plan, this year China will launch Tianzhou IV, Shenzhou XIV, Wentian experimental module, Mengtian experimental module, as well as Tianzhou V and Shenzhou XV 6 spacecraft, fully completing the construction of the space station. Among them, the launch of the Wentian Experiment Module and Mengtian Experiment Module will be carried out by the Long March 5 series of carrier rockets.
