The Sino-Indian border conflict has spread to the southern Tibetan region. In response to Indian media reports that some 200 PLA soldiers were intercepted near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in “Arunachal Pradesh”, a region China calls southern Tibet, Chinese media responded on October 9.

According to a Chinese army source, Chinese border guards conducted a routine patrol to the Chinese side of the Sino-Indian border in the Dongzhang area on Sept. 28, and encountered unreasonable obstruction from the Indian side, which was resolutely countered by Chinese officers and soldiers who returned after completing the patrol, Chinese media reported on Oct. 9, citing the China Daily.

The source said that the Dongzhang area is China’s inherent territory, and it is perfectly reasonable and legal for Chinese border troops to organize patrols in their own territory. The recent speculation in the Indian media about Chinese soldiers being detained for “crossing the line” is false and does not correspond to the facts.
