Taiwan’s military reported that from 6 a.m. yesterday (21st) to 6 a.m. today (22nd), they detected 37 instances of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) aircraft (including 22 instances of crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and its extension into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone) and 7 PLA warships conducting continuous operations around the waters near Taiwan.
According to Taiwan’s Radio Taiwan International, based on real-time updates from Taiwan’s military, 8 J-10 fighter jets, 1 TB-001 unmanned drone, and 1 Y-8 anti-submarine aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait. Additionally, 1 Z-9 anti-submarine helicopter and 1 KJ-500 airborne early warning aircraft entered Taiwan’s southwest airspace. Furthermore, 2 H-6 bombers, 1 Y-9 electronic warfare aircraft, and 6 J-16 fighter jets entered Taiwan’s southwest airspace, then circled to Taiwan’s southeast airspace. Finally, 1 WZ-7 unmanned reconnaissance aircraft entered Taiwan’s southwest airspace and circled to the southeast and eastern airspace.
Taiwan’s military stated that they are closely monitoring and responding to these activities using surveillance aircraft, ships, and missile systems.
Taiwanese media outlets such as “Formosa Television” and “Liberty Times” reported that when the Taiwanese Air Force broadcast warnings to the PLA aircraft, there was an alleged response from the PLA side saying, “You’re Chinese too.”
